Assignment #5: Develop a UI with Dreamweaver

Introduction to Human/Computer Interaction
CS 5540/6540

DUE:   20 Oct 2010(11:59 pm)

General Task:

In teams of two, use Dreamweaver (available in the CADE Lab) to develop a prototype interface for a copier/fax machine. Select one of your choosing for revision and improvement. IGNORE any issues of function, but do make sure the interface is "live," in the sense that something (trivial) occurs to indicate that the widgets and controls are reacting. Just pop up a msg, say something, or whatever stikes your fancy instead of invoking anything to perform function.

Select either the copy function or the fax function of a reasonably complicated multi-purpose machine, and show an improved UI for the same functions. You are specifically asked to include the "menu" interface, the place where various parameters are set and system choices are declared.

As part of the assignment, be sure to include extensive photo-documentation (read, images) indicating the state of the existing commercial interface. Provide a clear roadmap so that it is straight forward to compare the original with your proposed (improved) version. Include a technical discussion analyzing the commercial interface and describe your thinking in providing an inprovement. The project tie together the technical description (manual) with your revised version on a feature by feature basis. One way to accomplish this is to build a report with images and hotlinks to the features you developed to replace them on your interface.

Requirements:

By the project due date, turn in your working file, presumably a document and an html module to cs5540 assign5. Be sure to put the names of both team members on the introduction page of the document. Only handed-in once under the LastName that would appear first in a telephone directory. The package you submit should be some standard stuff and in a form that is convenient for the instructors to bring up easily and evaluate. Ease of use (for the instructors) will be part of the evaluation, so make it simple and straightforward to fire up from the handin package.

Please apply the below filename when submitting to handin and conform to the following synatx:
