Assignment #1 REDO: Interface vs. Functionality REDO

Introduction to Human/Computer Interaction
CS 5540/6540

DUE:  19 Sep 2008 (11:59 pm)

General Task:

There seemed to be a problem with the description in assignment 1. Hence, there will be a redo!

Please note that the matrix in revised assignment more clearly indicates that be 2 examples (one per team member for each case) of the following 4 possible combinations: (Good/Poor Functionality, Good/Poor Interface)

In teams of two, discuss the difference between interface and functionality. Come together on a definition of both that clearly explains the distinction. My attempt is provided, so adjust it to express your particular understanding. EACH team member should think of real-world examples that demonstrate the above definitions of interface and functionality in a positive a negative way, that is, examples of good and poor interface, and good and poor functionality. The functionality is poor if the intrument is not powerful enough to accomplish the task, regardless of the sueer's skill. Include images of the examples and annotate those images where necessary. Also, write a paragraph justifying your choice of that specific example to illustrate its a particular combination of values for interface and functionality. Report on your discussion using this revised presentation file.

Requirements:

By the project due date, turn in your .ppt file to cs5540 assign1. Be sure to put the names of both team members on the introduction page of the presentation slides as well as on the examples chosen by each member. Only handed-in once under either team member's name.
